Battery exchange in BSF9 stations

Needed material and tools

  • Screwdriver with 2 mm bit

  • Soldering equipment

  • Silk cutter

  • Fixture for mounting the BSF9 with mounting holder

  • Gauge for bending the 1/2 AA battery cable (Art. 33370)

  • O-ring gasket for BSF9 72.75x1.78 NBR 70 (Art. 33335)

  • Battery LS14250 (Art. 33320)

Preparation

1. Open the 4 screw and nut combinations with the screwdriver

  • Use a screwdriver with 2 mm bit

2. Desolder the battery contacts

  • Desolder the battery contacts with a 40 to 60 Watts soldering iron. The temperature should be between 350°C and 400°C, because lead free tin solder was used.

  • Cut the soldering lugs from the battery with a side cutter.

There is a risk of explosion when the battery lugs are shorted. Please do not forget to cut the soldering lugs from the battery with a side cutter.
It is required to dispose of the batteries as hazardous waste. Please bring them to a collecting point.

Solder on a new battery

1. Prepare the new battery

  • To bend the soldering lugs of the new battery, use the gauge (article number 33370)

  • Cut the solder lugs to the correct length

Pay attention to the right polarity of the battery! The green ring on the battery is the minus pole, „+“ and „-“ are marked on the printed circuit board.

2. Solder on the new battery

  • To solder on the battery, additional tin solder is necessary.

  • Please use only lead-free tin solder

We recommend alloy Sn 95.5 / Ag 3.8 / Cu 0.7 with a diameter less than 1.0 mm.

  • While contacting the solder lugs to the solder pads the station gets a reset signal and is brought on-line with 2 beeps.

  • Press down the battery with a finger while soldering and wait for the soldering pads to cool down until you can safely touch them.

Close the BSF9 watertide

1. Install the O-Ring

  • Put the rubber ring in the groove of the ground plate.

Note: Der O-Ring muss so aufgesetzt werden, dass er nicht insich verdreht ist.

2. Close the BSF9 station

  • Put the screws into the mounting fixture

  • Put the BSF9 housing with board and new battery into the mounting fixture.

  • Place the buttom plate onto the housing

  • Close the station with equal power with help of the mounting holder
